2022 East Face Syrah

In our 3-acre block of Syrah, one of the very first planted in California, there is a streak of particularly this reddish soil — less than three quarters of an acre — where the vines struggle the most, resulting in a very intense wine. In favorable years, we have bottled this separately as a showpiece called the East Face Syrah. This rare and enchanting wine has the concentration and dynamism to be lasting and long-evolving.
