2016 Altamont Syrah
From our wine library, aged in optimal cellar conditions at the winery. The Syrah vine’s growth habit parallels its finished form in wine: wild – verging on feral – with an intensity and vigor unseen in other varieties. The extra handwork we put into the vineyard canopy management to tame its growth has again paid off: this vintage is intense, spicy, and complex with aromas of licorice, citrus peel, and vanilla. Recent winemakers' tasting note: Raspberry and black cherry jam, blueberry, vanilla cola. Tannins powerful and chewy but also luscious and silky. (96 points Antonio Galloni of Vinous).

Its attributes prompted Carmen Dehlinger to select the 2016 Dehlinger Altamont Syrah as her favorite wine of the offering. (96 points Antonio Galloni of Vinous)
