2013 Frei Road Syrah

Library wine that has been retained onsite in Dehlinger's temperature controlled cellar.

As we planned our new generation of vineyard plantings, we conducted research into potential new clones and rootstocks by working with fruit from vineyards grown in altamont soil, similar to the Dehlinger ranch. This wine, from the Zio Tony ranch a mile away on Frei Road, was made as part of that endeavor.

Beautiful inky color. Vanilla, blackberry, and burnt caramel. Now with a decade of age, the 2013 Frei Road Syrah shows its overall strength: The tannins of this high-impact wine are beginning to resolve yet the wine remains chewy and robust.
